The 2026 Omdia release is strongest when read as two claims: a modeled revenue geography and a mobile-intensity comparison, neither a total-reach ranking.
The updated forecast
Omdia said on February 23, 2026 that global microdrama revenue reached $11 billion in 2025 and would grow to $14 billion by the end of 2026. It placed $3 billion of the 2026 total outside China. The United States was projected to generate $1.5 billion, or half of the ex-China total. These are estimates, not audited receipts, but they make the analyst's geographic proposition clear: China remains dominant while the U.S. is the pivotal international revenue market.
What engagement comparison means
The release also said Omdia's U.S. mobile-usage analysis found more daily time per user in microdrama apps than in Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video mobile apps. This is an intensity measure: time per user per day among the compared mobile-app users. It is not a claim that microdramas have more total viewers, more household reach, more television viewing or more revenue than those companies overall.
That distinction is commercially material. A small cohort that watches frequently can produce high time-per-user without producing the largest aggregate audience. Conversely, a broad service can lead in monthly reach while having lower daily intensity. Treating either result as a generic 'beats streaming' headline removes the denominator that gives the metric meaning.
A usable ledger entry
The record should retain two linked but separate data fields: Omdia's modeled revenue geography and its mobile engagement comparison. Both come from the same analyst, but they answer different questions. The revenue forecast is an annual market estimate. Daily minutes are behavioral usage statistics on mobile. Neither is a title-performance measure or a statement of profit.
The October 2025 Omdia release is useful corroboration for continuity: it had already projected $11 billion for 2025 and described China as 83% of revenue. The February update extends that frame. It does not create a comparable time series with Sensor Tower's storefront IAP reports, which use a narrower channel definition.
